Help & FAQs

FAQs

Q1: Are Ready Canopy products completely DIY-friendly?

Yes, all our products—including carports, patio covers, and awnings—are engineered as modular, pre-engineered DIY kits. They come with pre-drilled holes, all necessary hardware, and step-by-step instructions. While a handy person can easily install them, you can also hire a local handy-person or builder if you prefer not to DIY.

Q2: What materials are used in Ready Canopy structures?

We use high-grade, architectural-strength, powder-coated aluminium alloys for the frameworks (offering exceptional rust and corrosion resistance) and high-impact, UV-stabilized solid polycarbonate (PC) sheets or insulated panels for the roofing, designed specifically to withstand harsh Australian weather conditions.

Q3: Do you deliver Australia-wide?

Yes, we offer freight shipping options across Australia. Delivery costs vary depending on the package size, weight, and your delivery address. You can view shipping rates at checkout or contact our support team for a custom commercial freight quote.

Q4: What kind of warranty do you offer?

We stand by the craftsmanship of our products. Ready Canopy structures typically come with a 10-Year Structural Frame Warranty against warping, cracking, or manufacturing defects under normal usage.

Q5: Can these kits be extended or customized?

Our structures feature a modular design, meaning multiple sets can be joined together using extension profiles to increase the overall length or width to perfectly fit your property layout.

1. Carports (Single, Double, Cantilever & Insulated)

Q6: What is the difference between a Cantilever Carport and a standard Carport?

A Cantilever Carport (available in L-shape or Y-shape configurations) uses support posts on only one side, leaving the other side completely unobstructed. This maximizes your driving and door-opening space, making it perfect for tight driveways or narrow properties.

Q7: How well do the carports handle heavy wind or hail?

Extremely well. Our rust-proof aluminium frames paired with high-impact 2.0mm–3.0mm solid polycarbonate roofing sheets are engineered to absorb structural stress from severe storms, hail, and high coastal winds without cracking or breaking.

Q8: What are the benefits of choosing an Insulated Carport over a standard Polycarbonate roof?

Our Insulated Carports feature composite sandwich panels that block out 100% of direct light and significantly reduce thermal transfer. This keeps the space underneath much cooler during scorching Australian summers, protecting your vehicle's paintwork and interior from thermal damage.

Q9: Do the carports come with integrated drainage systems?

Yes. Every carport kit includes a built-in gutter system hidden seamlessly inside the aluminium frame profile, complete with standard 3.0m downpipes and elbows to direct rainwater safely away from the foundation.

Q10: What is an 'M-Shape' or 'Y-Shape' Double Carport?

These refer to the structural configuration of double carports:

  • Y-Shape: Features central pillars with the canopy wings branching outwards, ideal for separating two parking bays.
  • M-Shape: Connects two curved single carports at the center dome, utilizing outer pillars.

2. Patio Covers & Pergolas

Q11: What roofing options do I have for the Patio Cover & Pergola kits?

We offer two premium solid polycarbonate roofing styles to suit your aesthetic and functional preferences:

  • Plain (Clear) Sheets: Fully transparent like glass, providing maximum natural light transmission—ideal if you want to keep adjoining indoor rooms bright.
  • Frosted Sheets: Features a matte, satin-like finish that diffuses harsh glare, offers enhanced privacy from overhead neighbors, and blocks more ambient solar heat.

Q12: Are the patio covers termite-proof and fire-retardant?

Yes, unlike traditional timber pergolas, our full-aluminium structures are completely termite-proof, will not rot, and use flame-retardant roofing materials that adhere to strict fire-safety standards.

Q13: Can I attach the patio cover directly to my house wall?

Yes. Our patio kits are designed to act either as wall-mounted structures (attached securely to your home’s structural wall studs or fascia via a heavy-duty ledger channel) or as freestanding pergolas, depending on the model chosen.

Q14: Will the polycarbonate panels yellow or turn brittle over time under the Australian sun?

No. The polycarbonate panels feature a co-extruded UV-protection layer on the surface that blocks harmful ultraviolet radiation. This prevents the sheets from yellowing, becoming brittle, or degrading over years of direct sun exposure.

3. Custom Door & Window Awnings

Q15: Why should I install an awning over my entryways or windows?

Awnings act as functional architectural canopies. They shield your front door and window frames from direct rain (preventing rot or leaks) and block harsh solar radiation before it enters your home, helping reduce your summer cooling costs.

Q16: What color combinations are available for the Awning kits?

We offer several modern color profiles to match your home's exterior trim, including standard White, Grey, and Brown powder-coated aluminium frames paired with clear, tinted, or frosted protective sheets.

Q17: Do I need special tools to install a door awning?

Standard household tools like a power drill, spirit level, measuring tape, and appropriate masonry/timber wall anchors (included in most kits) are all you need. Detailed fixing instructions are included for both timber studs and brick/concrete walls.

4. Retractable Carports & Sunrooms

Q18: How does a Retractable Carport work?

Retractable carports use an accordion-style or motorized rail mechanism allowing the canopy to collapse or expand as needed. This gives you total flexibility to open up your driveway or backyard for social gatherings when a permanent fixed structure isn't required.

Q19: What is a Retractable Sunroom?

A Retractable Sunroom is an advanced outdoor living enclosure featuring glass or high-clarity polycarbonate wall/roof tracks. You can close it fully to create a weatherproof indoor-outdoor room during rainy winter months, or slide it completely open to enjoy the summer breeze.

Q20: Can the retractable mechanisms handle rain and dust?

Yes. The tracking systems are explicitly sealed and manufactured from marine-grade or heavy-anodized aluminium components, ensuring the rollers operate smoothly without jamming from windblown dust, dirt, or rain.

5. Outdoor Kitchens & Solar Carports

Q21: What materials are the Outdoor Kitchen modules made of?

Our outdoor kitchen modules are built to live permanently outdoors. They feature rust-proof aluminium internal framing, weather-sealed cabinet doors, and premium composite or stainless-steel countertops that resist food stains, UV rays, and water damage.

Q22: What is a Solar Carport, and do you supply the panels?

A Solar Carport features a specially engineered structural aluminium framework designed to securely hold heavy photovoltaic (PV) solar panels as the roof structure. Please note: We provide the premium structural canopy kit and mounting rail hardware; the solar panels, inverter, and electrical hookups should be sourced via your preferred local CEC-certified solar installer.

Q23: Do Ready Canopy products require council approval?

Council regulations (DA/CDC requirements) vary significantly depending on your local government area (LGA), the size of the structure, and its proximity to property boundaries. Because our products are pre-engineered, we can provide technical structural specifications to assist you if council filing or building certification is required in your area.
